Now, Repeat After Me January 31, 2007

My girl was watching a VCD on Phonics.

The thing tt she learnt to say was “Now, repeat after me” … the voice that repeatedly asked the viewer to repeat the sounds or words after her.

Repetition reinforce the memory … so, repeat after me … yes, repeat after me … excellent, repeat after me … and now, repeat after me … hahaha

Demise of My Cute Little Goldfish January 29, 2007

Filed under: Family — mummydear @ 4:27 pm

*sigh* … barely 1wk, all 18 goldfish died one by one.
May you all rest in peace … o-me-tuo-fo.

When we first bought our fishes, the ‘Sell-Fish’ worker (not fisherman, not fishmonger, then wat??? … selfish lor) told us to add 4 tablespoon of salt to the tank (for the brand that he recommended). Having some marine salt at home, we happily added them into the tank … …

Today , my hubby went back to the fish farm to ‘consult’ the ‘Sell-Fish’ worker, he said cannot use the marine salt lah, must buy the type recommended by him.

Wau lau eh!!!
So, all goldfish became salted fish … *sigh* … o-me-tuo-fo.

P/S: Oh, also read from internet that goldfish cannot live in saline environment … …

Pass Up Instead of Pass Down January 26, 2007

Filed under: Family — mummydear @ 11:44 am

It used to be older kids passed down his/her clothings to the next younger kids … … but not anymore. A sign of kids growing up and we’re ageing, gracefully of course :).

Last wk, my niece passed her clothings to me, being the smallest size adult available. Hmmmm … the white dress, looks good; but the jeans are too big. Hehe, this only means that I’m still slim … hahaha!!!

Waiting for the day to come, when I can share clothings with Ashley. Then pple may mistaken me as her sister!!!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha … … sorry, can’t stop laughing.

Hello, I’m Man … Part 2 January 25, 2007

Talking abt making fun of a person’s name, I’m also guilty of it … …

An ex-colleague of mine is an Indonesian Chinese, his surname is Suparman; so u can guess what i called him, much to his annoyance.

To “add salt to the injury”, his name sounds like ‘Xian2 Dan4’ (salted egg) … together with the surname, can u guess what is it???

It is … …
‘Ultra-man’, because that’s what Ultra-man is known in Mandarin:
ๅ’ธ่›‹่ถ…ไบบ’Xian2 Dan4 Chao1 Ren2′.

Yah, I’m mean. I knew he disliked it, so I stopped teasing him then.
Now retribution on my daughter … … ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello, I’m Man … Part 1

Filed under: Family — mummydear @ 10:43 am

Scene1 Act1
Me: [referring to her books] Why didn’t u write yr surname?
ALY: *a bit of frustration* My friends keep making fun of it, calling me ‘Man’ [shd pronounce as Mun in Cantonese]
Me: *laughing inside* It’s alright, jus tell them u’re superMAN or wonderwoMAN.
ALY: *grumbling*
Me: If u don’t write yr surname, another Ashley comes along, then how?
ALY: [unwillingly wrote her surname on the books]

Scene1 Act2
Me: Why not u checked with Daddy, how he handled it when he was young??
ALY: … … [like not vy convinced leh]

Scene2 Act1
Me: Daddy, how did u handle it?
Daddy: No such problem leh, maybe because I’m male, so naturally I’m a ‘Man’.
Me: ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Daddy: Mayb u shd chk with my sis … …

Scene3 Act1
Ellen: No leh. Dun hv such problem leh.

Oh dear!!! [scratch my head liao]

Choosing names for my kids weren’t easy, me had to ensure tt the names sound ok when they are pronounced in English, Mandarin and even dialects!!! Then they hv to complement with surname ‘Man’, the initials must be ok, and the chinese characters must also be good & special. For these, I flipped every pages of the Dictionary a few times.

But I’m still defeated … by the surname ‘Man’! :X

If U’re Not Interested, Pls Leave … … January 22, 2007

These happened in my yoga class:

(1) Last Last Saturday … …
Two teenage sisters came to the class with their mum. What they did in the class were vy vy irritating and annoying.

They were not serious in doing the exercises. All their postures were OUT, OUT, OUT; and actions were WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! Sitting there, as if their backbones had collapsed, they played and laughed loudly, oblivious to the coach & other students who were learning to get the most benefits out of the 1.5hrs class.

When the coach went over to correct their postures, OMG!!! They fell like Humpty Dumpty, they cldn’t even control their bodies!!! And they thought that that was vy funny … Ha! Ha! Ha!

(2) Last Saturday … …
Luckily only one turned up, so we’d some peaceful time.

Again, with her collapsed backbone, she just went thru’ motion for all the exercises. When we were told to hold certain poses, this amazing girl wld pull out her story bk from behind and READ.

C’mon, hv some respect for the coach & others.

Don’t come to the class or pls leave … why ‘torture’ yourself, and subject others to yr nonsense??!!

U r responsible for your health & action.
Yr attitude sucks! PLEASE be graceful and considerate.

Bought a strawberry flavored toothpaste for my kids recently. #1 still a vy passive brusher, #2 becomes a vy active brusher.

#2 after brushing her teeth, wld look for me. Then she opened her mouth widely and insisted that I come close to it!

“Did u smell strawberry???” she asked with her cute little voice.

*fainted* … hahaha
